Cute! Did you also fixed it? So it also works under the shower? I'm retexturing this hair myself 2, but my version is different because it has no bow @ all, and because it's also gonna work under the shower. But i still love your retextures! (L)
I'm not exactly sure what you mean. I checked the categories in CTU and all the appropriate categories are checked. I don't have, nor do I want the TSRW so unless TSRW does something different than CTU, I'm not exactly sure how to fix the issue.
Yeah, I don't either. I downloaded BaXim's core mod over at sexysims2 and what I like about it is that all of the options in it come in separate folders so I only have to install the few things I want (in my case: naked woohoo, same sex pregnancy, and the facial slider/range hacks) without having a bunch of stuff I don't want and will never use.
Not to try and persuade you, but Pescado posted the link to his online AM customization so you can pick and choose was AM does and doesn't do. I use every time he updates because I don't particularly care for some of the things he's added in, much like yourself. ;)
Hi, I also wanted to inquire about the hairs changing in the shower or when the Sim is naked. There is something weird with Newsea hairs that causes this. I, myself, have opened up a few of his hairs that I've downloaded (both before he moved to TSR and after) in both TSRW and Delphy's CTU and they do appear to have naked checked, yet they STILL change in the shower. I think there was one early one that didn't have naked checked that I found on the booty (the "Viking" hair) and I opened it up in CTU to check naked, saved it as a new .package file and it STILL changed in the shower! There is some incorrect format he makes his hairs in that seems to override the game's categories. It would be nice if it could be isolated and the problem fixed.
I don't think TSR should allow Newsea to sell hairs that are obviously flawed and won't even work correctly when a Sim is naked! Seriously, how do they get away with this?
To the other poster, a quick way to get around the hairs changing in the shower WITHOUT having to download and install Awesomemod is to go to "Change appearance" and make sure the flawed hair is locked for all categories. Then switch to a different outfit (like formal), go back to change appearance and choose a different hairstyle, but this time make sure to UNLOCK the hair for that category. Then the hair you want will show up when the Sim is naked. If you absolutely want that hair for all styles, then in that same outfit you changed the hairstyle for, go back to change appearance and choose the flawed Newsea hair and make sure that it is still UNlocked. Problem solved. Ulker makes her hairs wrong as well, so you'll have to do it for hers, too. I also have a few Peggy hairs that do this as well, like the long one TumTum Simiolino did and MissBonBon retextured.
Hrm thank you for your input. I'll see if I can get in touch with someone who knows more about the game's coding and such to see if it can be solved. I have AM which could be a reason why I never noticed.
I wonder what programs they use to build their hairs? I wonder if it's TSRW because every hair that I know of that uses DABOOBS seems to work ok.
Perhaps it's a program called "Maya?" I think it was mentioned with a screenshot in Peggy's nonsensical rambling from her lulz internet lawyer.
http://www.peggyzone.com/Sims3Disclaimer.html
They could all be using the same program which is borked...I don't know. I know Juice or Yu (part of Newsea) used to work for Peggy.
I don't know why Peggy is getting her panties in such a wad anyway. If you don't want people redoing your stuff to make it better, then make it right the first time! For instance, I downloaded Peggy's skintone today. I'd read on several forums that she didn't make a dark version and so Sims with darker skintones looked horrible. So using Aikea Guinea's wonderful tutorial, I made a dark verson of her skintone and also edited it so it would work with morgade's "real nipples" mod over at sexysims2. But I doubt that I will upload it for fear of getting harassed by Peggy's fake internet lawyers every two seconds.
But I do agree about the whole make it better aspect. Her textures per say aren't even that bad, it's the way she makes them. I can tell you just by looking at them she just takes the sims 2 textures and adjusts their hue/saturation levels to make them grey. That's why the roots turn out so dark because in the sims 2 texture they might just be a shade or three darker, but when you do them that way they turn black.
I don't use her skins so I didn't even know that she didn't make a dark color. That just goes to show the amount of laziness she has. It takes two seconds to make a dark color. She probably takes all sorts of corners so she can keep pumping out everything to try and keep making money.
Oh, maybe Maya is just a meshing program. I'm not sure. All I know is that she and Newsea are doing something wrong to bork hairs and they both need to stop charging for crap that doesn't work properly. I'm pretty sure they are using free programs at some point of the creation process to make their stuff, whether they admit it or not.
Ah, thanks for the explanation on the roots! I always wondered why they were so freaking dark! Man, she's lazy.
My favorite skin is Seraphita's. I played with Peggy's yesterday and part of today but ended up going back to Seraphita's. You're right - it takes two seconds to make a dark and the original game files included a dark, so I don't know why she didn't make one as well.
Thank you! :) One day I will try and put her up. Just to use her she would require so much CC and mods that I would have to hunt down. I'll see what I can do though.
I'm not quite exactly sure what you mean. The download link is for the hair I posted, or in the comparisons, the hair on the right. I'm not exactly sure how your getting the old one. ??
wow, really? cool ^.^ I play S3 only from time to time, so it's hard to have an overview over new downloads, but with you I know I always have a place where I can get retextures that look good even in my (crappy graphics) game!
Wow, thanks for sharing this awesome work! Just today I feel like playing Sims 3 again and browsing for cc stuff and the first thing I've found is this amazing hair. :)
Just so I understand this correctly: I only need to download from here to show up ingame? No external mesh is needed?
To make it more complicated, in sims 2 the texture files referenced a mesh file. Whereas in Sims 3, it does the same thing, but now texture files are built within the packages with meshes. SOOoooo you only need one version/ can only have one version.
The ONLY exception to having one version is if the mesh is created in two standalone packages.
So if Newsea has hair A and I retexture hair A, you can only have mine OR newsea's.
But if Newsea makes hair A and hair B (same hair, two separate packages) and I retexture A, you can only have ONE of hair A AND have hair B at the same time.
You are beyond awesome! Newsea often frustrates me because in theory the hair looks great, but often its too large a file with numerous flaws and clogs up the game making it not worth playing. So what I am trying to say is I'm really glad for your work. Sorry if this sounds lame haha.
I wanted to drop by and say after seeing this hair in game I have to say how much you've improved since the beginning. It's gorgeous, just amazing. You're my go-to for hair retextures, you and Abbey, and if I toss a hair, it's not usually the retexture but the mesh itself.
Thank you. :) I'm glad you see an improvement because I've been experimenting and trying different things for effects. Hopefully this new stuff I've been hoarding is even better. :)

It's towards the bottom of his first post that says:
"For those wishing to pick and choose features, you can use the online AwesomeMod Configuration Tool.
Or you can hack the XML yourself. Up to you."
