It's so moving, and I urge everyone to watch it.

I encourage you because this is a very serious issue, and this young man embodies how many people have felt dealing with this very issue. Watching his cards, and explaining how he feels brings back so many familiar feelings and emotions. To watch him stand up and be so strong is amazing, and bear his soul for the world to see is incredible.

He is an inspiration, and a very refreshing wake up call. All to often we don't hear this side of the story until it's to late. And those that try to share their story often go unheard or ignored. This young man though, has brought out a very serious issue, and makes it extremely personal.

Please watch, and realize that everyone hurts. Even if it isn't shown on the surface, we all have feelings, and we all need love from someone.

"You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face."
-Eleanor Roosevelt

comments

Mesher- Specifically for hair- needed!

No this isn't a request to make a hair. Sort of a request to help fix a hair. :) Basically I've never been able to focus on one project, and decided to take time away from working on the skin blend and my challenge with an attempt to complete my hair texture project. Basically I wanted to replace ALL of EA's hairs with a nicer texture. I was almost complete, and then I realized that I actually prefer a texture that looks similar to the EA one, and after a couple days of blending and such, I think I have a good compromise.

So I went back and started small, redoing hairs for Fast Lane and HELS. Whilst I was redoing them, I had a stroke of inspiration on how to make the hairs look...well better. After alpha editing some of meshes, and loading up the game, I was horrified to see terrible alpha issues! Pictures below for better description.

( + )

If anyone knows how to fix these issues and willing to help a complete meshing noob out I would very much appreciate it.

comments

Sooo, I started a new sims challenge today. I kinda made up my own/making it up as I go along. It's very similar to other challenges out there, but I thought I would post the rules here to keep myself from cheating. :P

Rules:

Cas-

Sim can be Male or Female. They have to be a young adult though.
Can choose any items for appearance.
Must be named after foods. I.E. My first sim is named Apple Juice.
To determine traits, I went to a random number generator, and randomly generated numbers 1-82. I counted 82 traits total if you have all expansions.Obviously if you didn't you would count the number of traits you have access to and do 1- whatever number that is. Re-rolling would be allowed only if conflicting traits occurred.. Otherwise, no do overs!
The first 5 are the traits for your sim. No re-rolling!
Any voice/favorites combo are allowed, but astrological sign must be generated using the random number generator. No re-rolling!
LTW must be rolled on as well with a 1-6. 1-5 being what the game randomly generated, and 6 being the free for all slot. If the free for all slot is won, only wishes that do not pertain to jobs can be chosen. Wishes pertaining to profession can be. If you happen to choose a LTW that pertains to a job when you roll 1-5, the sim may not follow/pursue fulfilling that wish until they reach the adult stage.
Cannot create a spouse/pet/children. Your sim must "acquire" them throughout their life.

Living-

A sim is allowed to purchase a lot, and spend $500.00 on groceries, and then the remaining amount of money must be taken away. There are no restrictions on what they can buy, but it cannot exceed $500.00 and can only be purchasable through the grocery store.
No jobs or professions! Unless your sim reaches adulthood, but then they are only allowed to pick up professions. Except ghost hunting. No selling ghosts for easy money!
The sims spouse is allowed to have a profession/job if they already had one upon marriage. If they didn't have one, then one cannot be chosen for them.
Once babies are born, they are to live with the parents until they find a spouse. Only exception to this rule is if the prior generation happens to die before they wed.
Once they wed they have the option of moving out. It is not necessary, but obviously bigger families will want them to move out.
Teens born in game and up are allowed professions. No ghost hunting!
Sims are allowed to accept quests.
Sims can move or build new homes. Which ever is preferred. They cannot move until they have acquired $5,000.00 in household funds, but can continuously build as they earn.

Mod-

Awesomemod is allowed, because well it keeps the game from breaking. :P
No skill up faster mods!
No everything buyable in grocery store mods!
No mods to make opportunities appear faster!
Basically no mods. :P
Only exception is if the mod fixes a glitch.

I've decided I will continue this challenge for 5 generations. At 5 generations I will see how it's going and decide if I want to continue on. Obviously I started in Bridgeport because I know there's parks available with sleeping and bathing arrangements. So far, it's been super fun and super challenging. I've played almost 2 straight days, which I usually never play. My sim currently has $700.00 to her name, a small garden, and a sleeping bag. So it's been interesting to find fun things to do, social gatherings, or a place to simply shower. I will say though, it gives a whole new look on the game when you have to consider if your sim is going to a place that has a readily accessible bathroom if need be.

I'll add more rules as I go. To keep me honest. :)

comments

So I didn't have much time previously to properly speak about this, but now I do!

Essentially the booty survives, thrives, and whole meaning is for and from the sims community. For a long time, when pay sites was the immediate hot topic, the booty was thriving.

Now the great pay site debate is somewhat falling by the way side, and PMBD along with the booty is getting less attention and less donators. How does the newish textures look?

comments

So the creating bug is striking again! This time, I decided I wanted to use different textures for my hairs. Basically I had a long conversation with myself over what kind of content I wanted in my game. My realization: Sims 3 just doesn't do realistic very well. I've seen some pictures from community members, where they attempted realism, and it looked okay... until you see the sims. The pudding just doesn't allow it. Then I noticed how many things I had in my game that just didn't sit well with me, and a big part of those was the hair textures. They looked.... plastic. Better than EA hair textures, but either my sims looked odd or plastic.

Thus I switched with pooklet textures I use! She released a texture she had created for the sole purpose of looking more like "real" hair. I decided to see how they look in the sims 3, and I love them! The main issue I'm working out is they can get a bit of a "dark root" but I'm testing what I can do. :) Anyways... I want feedback. I like it enough for my game, but eventually I want to get back to sharing my retextures and want to know the general consensus, yay or nay?

comments

Due to some recent activity on my blog, I am now filtering my anonymous comments. I am also requiring all anonymous commenters to fill out a captcha with every post.

I am doing this due to some recent spam I have been seeing on my peggy hairaplooza post. As much as I love nice comments, I hate spamming comments just as much. I have tried to just delete them, but I think this method will work out better.

I also want to make a note, and it should notify every poster on my journal, that I do track and record every IP on my journal. So yes, when I received 3 or 4 comments on the same entry from the same person, I did know it was you. I also looked up those IP's and have noticed several of them are on IP blacklists due to spamming.

So hopefully these new measures will help out, as it cuts away from my time from trying to finish my latest project when I have to clean out my journal of spam. It also cuts away from the content of my journal if it just became a stream of spam, which would then discourage everyone from commenting. I personally just believe this is a better way to protect my brain, and to protect my visitors sanity.

If this spam continues or worsens I will disable all anonymous commenting until I see fit to allow it again. So please, to the spammy douchebags, don't spoil it for everyone else who can use features and follow rules appropriately. :)

comments

Oh Herro!

I wanted to take a moment and thank everyone who has left me lovely messages. :) I have been MIA for a bit, mainly due to time restrictions. For those of you who don't know I work two jobs, and it's not that during the summer work load increases, but that's when everyone takes vacations. Thus meaning work place needs extra coverage, and since at one job it's my duty to cover uncovered shifts... well I end up going in a lot.

I'm sorry to those of you who have reported issues with anything lately and I've failed to get back to you. With me constantly covering shifts, and I recently had to travel for a bit, it's left me with little time here and there to check some websites. Naturally with what little time I do scrap by, I would rather use that time for enjoyment rather than "work" so to speak. Not that it's work to get back to people, but honestly sometimes I just forget. I mean, if I really didn't have stickies on my desk with sensitive information, I would show a picture of my desk. I'm pretty sure I keep post-it notes in business.

With that said, I might be gone for a bit more or less depending on the issue and the time. I'm trying to manage what's most important to me to be able to do, and what can wait a few more weeks. :)

I hope everyone is does well though. Especially you Century eyes! And I'll catch ya on the flip side of the moon!

comments

Well... here it is! After several days of editing, I think I got it to a *decent* level. If you remember the suggestions post here you will see how it's no longer straight on top. I would have loved to keep it that way, but the mapping prevented it. The bangs look more natural now though.

And I edited the textures to try and prevent the blandness that happens on darker colors. The black in the below previews is EA's black and not the Pooklet black. If you go that dark/much darker, the texture blends in together. If I knew a way to prevent that without making the lighter colors look bad, I would. :( So I have some different previews with different colors.

ANNNDDD... Cazy's original also was enabled for males. The male texture package is dependent up the female one. I have not included the male one, but if you go here you can download Cazy's male package which will open this hair up to men.

( Down the rabbit hole... )

comments

So I noticed my game severely lacked decent curly hair. I mean not everyone has perfect wavy hair, or straight as a pole hair. So I took a shot alpha editing Cazy's converted Myos hair. I need some feedback please!

Here's my issues:

1. Curls look great in a light color as you can see, but kinda blend in together on darker colors. Minor enough to leave it or is there a way around it without losing the shading for the curls? Examples:

2. It's not very noticeable in this picture, but the straight part doesn't line up along the top of the head. I've tested for about an hour now different sizes/locations of the curls and straight parts to line it up. I conclude that the way the hair is UV mapped, it will probably be next to impossible.Example:

3. I just now noticed it's a bit wide the head. It's near impossible to get it "flatter" by alpha editing it. Is there directions somewhere on how to break a package apart and just make the hair slimmer? Or someone nice enough to help me out?
4. Do the bangs look weird? They seem to be UV mapped to the same portion of one of the curls, but mapped at the end of the texture. So again, probably impossible to get it to line up correctly. Bothersome?

comments

So I think I finally have these to a satisfactory level. I'm still not entirely happy with them, but I have EA's mapping to thank for that. As you can see from the pictures, some of the highlights won't match up, and no matter what I do, I cannot get it exactly perfect. Well, I could stretch out the highlight, in which I tried, but then it looked even more wrong than previously. So I understand if not everyone likes these.

Download

comments

Yep, a quick one this time fellows!

Download
There are small gaps in this mesh, as well as the childrens version of this posted farther down.

Download
The lines on the mesh are not noticable in darker colors. Unfortunately I even had these issues with peggy's original, so unless there's a mesh fix, there's nothing I can do about the black lines. :(

Download

Download
A special note about this hair. There are two files, one for adults and another for child/toddler. For some reason, I cannot get child to show up. It even does this in my game with peggy's original file. Everytime I try to open the file in CTU to check if it's available for children, CTU crashes. If anyone has an idea/a fix file, please let me know.

Download

Download

comments

Okay, so I finally have gotten around to working on that Peggy folder on my to-do list. Meaning I got some children hair done! Now to be completely honest, I had a folder of honestly about 20 hairs. Just the children. But very few of them.... looked...well... normal. So these are either completers for some hairs I've done before, or brand new ones to go with the hairs I just posted. Maybe once I learn how to mesh and can actually lower those meshes, I'll go back and do some of those funky ones. Until then enjoy!

Credits, again are labeled on the pictures. Also know that these are also for toddlers, and look really cute, I just am a lazy bastard and didn't take pictures of those sprogs. Hairs are labeled with Peggy's numbers, so just match the numbers up and remove what you would like. And again, any trouble downloading just let me know so I can throw up another link. Images to let you know which one is which are also contained in the zips.

Download Peggy_fh_child_toddler0082
Download Peggy_fh_child_toddler0098
Download Peggy_fh_child_toddler0120
Download Peggy_fh_child_toddler0124
Download Peggy_fh_child_toddler0133
Download Peggy_fh_child_toddler0135
Download Peggy_fh_child_toddler100227

comments
